Here we present a rare opportunity to acquire a stunning example of a registered 1935 4½ Litre Petersen Blower Bentley Special. Built by ourselves in the 1990s, this car formed part of a limited run commissioned by renowned London Bentley dealer, Jack Barclay.
The car has remained in single ownership for the past 25 years, where it has been meticulously maintained and cherished, supported by an extensive history file documenting its ongoing care and maintenance.
Powered by a 4½ litre Bentley engine derived from the R-Type, and fitted with the Petersen Blower alongside twin SU carburettors, the car delivers the unmistakable character and performance reminiscent of the original Blower Bentleys. The straight-six engine has been comprehensively uprated using our own pistons, rods, and crank components, significantly enhancing both performance and reliability over standard specification. This is paired with a Bentley Mk VI gearbox and overdrive, offering a superb driving experience and effortless high-speed touring capability—well in excess of 120mph, should you wish to explore it.
The traditional ash-framed, Le Mans-style body is panelled in aluminium, faithfully echoing the original Vanden Plas Blowers of the 1920s. Inside, the Connolly leather interior presents beautifully, showing only minimal signs of age and wear. The brightwork and nickel-plated components remain in excellent condition, displaying a gentle, honest patina that perfectly complements the car’s character.
Now ready to be enjoyed by its next custodian, this exceptional motor car offers a unique blend of performance, heritage, and craftsmanship.
